Frequently Asked Questions
How do I connect to my Plex server?+
Open WristStream on your Apple Watch and sign in with your Plex account using PIN-based authentication. The app will automatically discover servers associated with your account. It connects over local Wi-Fi first, falling back to secure remote connections or Plex relay if needed.
What audio quality options are available?+
WristStream offers seven quality levels: Original (direct stream), 320 kbps, 256 kbps, 192 kbps (recommended), 128 kbps (good for cellular), 96 kbps, and 64 kbps. Lower quality uses less data and extends battery life, while higher quality provides better audio fidelity.
Can I listen offline?+
Yes. You can download individual tracks, full albums, artist catalogs, or entire playlists directly to your Apple Watch. Downloaded music plays automatically without a network connection. You can also toggle a "Downloaded Only" view in settings to browse just your offline library.
How do complications work?+
WristStream supports several complication types. The rectangular complication is interactive — it shows the current track with playback controls (previous, play/pause, next) and a progress bar, all without opening the app. Circular, corner, and inline complications provide quick launch access.
The app can't find my Plex server. What should I do?+
Make sure your Plex Media Server is running and accessible on your network. WristStream tries local connections first, then HTTPS, then Plex relay. If you're on the same network as your server, ensure your watch is connected to Wi-Fi. For remote access, check that remote connections are enabled in your Plex server settings.
Do I need a Plex Pass?+
No. WristStream works with any Plex account, including the free tier. All app features are available without a Plex Pass subscription.
